What is Life Expectancy Exactly?
Today in class we discussed life expectancy and we talked specifically about why its so different now than it was from back a couple hundred years ago. There are many factors that play into not only how long you may live, but also the ever growing and ever dwindling population. Just think for a second, not everybody has the same life expectancy. Why this is, is because things like eating habits, smoking/drinking habits, genetic conditions, and disease are different for every generation. Life expectancy isn't necessarily how long you will live, but actually what your generation is expected to maintain. This isn't something that we should have to worry about, but the population may be. If our population continued to grow at the rate that it has over the past 50 years, there is a chance that 50 years from now, the earth may not be able to handle us all. I think these types of classes are good discussion starters and they make us excited to learn. I look forward to finishing the powerpoint in order to gain a better understanding of why things are the way they are. Thats about it for now though.
