Greek Architecture

Today's blog is all about Greek architecture and what a typical building would look like in ancient Greece. My two structures include The Temple of Zeus Olympia and The Temple of Aphaia. Both of these buildings stood out to me due to how unique they are. They have some similarities, but they have even more visual differences.
In the picutre above, you see The Temple of Zeus Olympia. His temple was built in the Conrinthian Order, which is why it is so unique. At the top of each colomn, there is a very intricate structure of leaves and tendrils that form volutes.
This structure is The Temple of Aphaia. The large colomns that on each side of the temple rose higher than the walls did.  The colomns were built to support the roof (which did not have struts) of the temple.

As you can see, these structures are pretty cool to look at and I would have loved to live in ancient Greece to be able to see them. That is all for today and have a lovely weekend.
